Dr. Elena Sánchez Trigo holds a BA and a PhD in Romance Philology (French) by the University of Santiago de Compostela and is Full Professor of Translation and Interpreting at the Department of Translation and Linguistics, School of Philology and Translation, University of Vigo (Spain). She lectures in French-Spanish translation as well as in other transversal subjects, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Dr. Sánchez Trigo has completed 5 six-year periods of outside assessment of research activity according to the Spanish National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI). She has led and participated in several R&D projects selected following competitive calls. She also coordinated the COLE research group, which was recognised by the Galician Autonomous Government as a competitive reference group during the 2018-21 period, and had previously been recognised as a group with growth potential during the 2012-14 period, as well as a reference group by the University of Vigo. Dr. Sánchez Trigo is currently a member of the GALMA research group, as well as of the Transformative Education: Science, Communication and Society group for teaching innovation. She has also participated in different thematic networks (Red Gallega Procesamiento del Lenguaje y RI, Red de Lingüística de corpus, Red de Recursos Lingüísticos para la Sociedad del Conocimiento and E-Learning), as well as in the European network of excellence TRAMICTEK (Translation, Multilinguism Information and Comunication Technologies and Transference of Knowledge) and in the ESF Research Networking Programme: Evaluating Information Access Systems.
Moreover, Elena serves as an external reviewer for different quality agencies as well as teaching and research evaluation organisations (among others, AGAUR, Fundación para el conocimiento Madrid and Comisión Técnica Subdirección General de Proyectos de Investigación). She is also a member of the editorial board of the journal Trans. Revista de Traductología and of the advisory board of several well-known Translation journals (Meta, MonTI, Sendebar, Çedille, Anales de Filología Francesa and Panace@). Besides that, Elena collaborates with the federations ASEM and ASEM-Galicia in the translation of texts on rare and neuromuscular diseases of the AFM-Téléthon (France), which are aimed at making them more visible. She has held different management positions (head of department, PhD programme coordinator) and was also a member of the Tremedica (Asociación Internacional de Traductores y Redactores de Medicina y Ciencias Afines) management board.
