GALMA participates in the two-year research network “ALMA – Red de excelencia sobre I+D+i para accesibilidad y lenguas minoritarias en los medios audiovisuales” (Research network on research, development and innovation for accessibility and minority languages in the media). The research proposal, which was very well appreciated by the selection panel, will receive funding from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities under the Spanish Agency for Research.

The consortium, led by the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), is composed of several research groups from different Spanish tertiary education institutions, namely: GALMA (University of Vigo), Transmedia Catalonia (Autonomous University of Barcelona), Immersive Interactive Media (Polytechnic University of Valencia), Estudos audiovisuais (University of Santiago de Compostela), HiPIS (University of Valencia), and TRALIMA/ITZULIK (University of the Basque Country). Following the first consortium meeting, which took place in Barcelona on January 30th, the partners agreed to start studying and monitoring the quantity and quality of accessibility to the media in Galicia, Catalonia and the Basque Country.
